When waiting is a good thing
Are there times when waiting is to our advantage? Esau threw away his birthright for a single meal (Genesis 27; Hebrews 12:15-17).
Richard Shelley Taylor wrote in The Disciplined Life, “. . . if our typical modern character has any weakness more outstanding than another, it is this inability to wait. ‘I want what I want when I want it’ is the prevailing approach to life.”
Sex before marriage (just can’t wait!) is but one example.
Two lifestyles contrasted
Moses, however, believed delayed gratification well worth it (Hebrews 11:24-26).
Esau had to have it NOW. Moses willing to wait. And we?
