Those who are new to texting may be befuddled by all the abbrev. It takes some getting used to. I received a text yesterday that said simply, “Yw.” That was new to me, but what made it easy to decipher was the context: “Yw” was a reply to my previous expression of thanks for help with a computer problem.
And so with interpreting the Bible
A cardinal rule of Bible study is: Consider the context—what precedes the passage and what follows.
Satan deliberately ripped a passage out of context to tempt Jesus (Matthew 4:5-6; Psalm 91:11-12). Jesus wasn’t fooled. He replied with another passage, properly applied.
The Bible warns against the danger of misusing Scripture (2 Peter 3:15-16). It is one of Satan’s favorite ploys, and he’s still at it!
Like Jesus, don’t fall for it!
