The Blood

The blood prophesied

Being scourged/pierced/wounded certainly implies bloodshed (Psalm 22:16; Isaiah 53:5; Zechariah 12:10). The Passover lamb prefigured “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29; Exodus 12:21-23; 1 Corinthians 5:7).

The blood shed

The apostle John witnessed the blood Jesus shed when the soldier pierced Him (John 19:34-35).

The blood applied

His blood cleanses and purchases us for God (Acts 20:28; Romans 5:9). Initially applied in baptism (Acts 2:38; 22:16; Romans 6:3-5), the blood keeps cleansing as we walk in the light and confess our sins (1 John 1:7, 9).

The blood remembered

A blood-bought sinner must never forget the high cost of his cleansing. “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me” (1 Corinthians 11:25).

The blood: prophesied, shed, applied, remembered.
